It is with sadness that we share with our membership the news of the passing of former club member Jeanette McCaw, wife of late Past Commodore Lex Brusse, on Thursday, December 26, 2024. The family has requested we share this information for anyone wishing to attend, a Celebration of Life will be held at Prince Edward Yacht Club on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 1pm to 4pm. Please join us at the club Friday, January 17, 2025, as we will be making our presentation to HOSPICE Prince Edward of the funds raised from the pancake breakfast event. The final amount raised will be revealed at the presentation, you won’t want to miss it. Staff, members of the Hospice Prince Edward Board, and volunteers will be in attendance. Bring a snack to share for around 5:30pm, with the presentation being made at 6pm. Hope to see you then.
Speaker Series resumes for 2025 with guest speaker, Lynn Ellwood. Lynn’s presentation will commence at 1pm. The club/bar will be open at 12:30pm. Lynn Ellwood is a Speech-Language Pathologist and university professor, as well as a Royal Yachting Association qualified Coastal Yacht Master. Recreationally, she races, cruises, lives on and does long ocean passages on sailboats around the world. Recently, she signed on as crew for a three-person passage from Tahiti to New Zealand. Lynn will share pictures, stories and take-aways from her experience including the whys and wherefores, some how to's and the highs and lows of passage making. Bring your questions!
Join us for Trivia at PEYC with Quiz Master Angus Ross. Registration at 6:30pm. Game begins at 7:00pm. Trivia Topics include: Boating; Canada; World Events/History; Entertainment; Sports; Geography. Teams must consist of 4 players with a $2.00 entry fee per player. Sign up your team at the bar in advance. Late entries accepted. Put on your creative thinking caps and name your team (keep it clean….). If you would like to play but don’t have a team, come along and we’ll assign you one. Prizes for winning team!
PEYC’s Annual Chili Bonspiel is this coming Saturday, February 1, 2025. Registration opens at 11am. First throw will be at 12 noon. Teams consist of two players or sign up as a single and we will pair you up! No experience required. Registration and Chili Bowl fee is $10/person. Chili Bowl only is $5/person. Don’t forget there will be prizes for the wackiest hat, and for the best pot of chili. Pre-register by email to manager@peyc.ca. Note – in the event the ice conditions are not favourable on February 1st, alternative activities are planned.
